While reading my “neglected” Google Reader feeds (I have close to 2000 unread stuff again…), I chanced upon an article talking about GMinder, a system tray program which provides offline display of your Google Calendar.

A common problem of using Google Calendar so far has been having to launch the browser to go online before you can access the service. These problems were somewhat eased when Google introduced Google Gears for Offline access to GCal. However, you would still have to access the service through your browser. Thus, GMinder would provide a nice simple addition to your desktop if you don’t want to open your browser every time.
However, at this point, I must admit that haven’t tried out this application yet as I am still in camp. But the application and idea behind it does make it seem quite useful.
As for now, I am using Thunderbird/Lightning with GCALDaemon to sync my calendars at home. This combination also provides reminder services, albeit with some small issues…
